NEW NORCIA 2022
Some of us love photography. Some of us love writing. But maybe this time around some are just looking for a nice weekend away. That’s why we offer three choices:
Just come for the weekend, meet the team, spend time with like-minded people, explore, rest a little and come to our concert.
Learn skills and techniques in our travel writing sessions.
Photowalk with professionals and hone your image making. This year, the focus (!) will be on using your mobile phone cameras.
In other words, there’s a package for all on New Norcia Weekend Away on Saturday May 30 and Sunday April 1, staying in renovated buildings, and with all meals included.
All packages will include:
Abbey Church Performance with Stephen Scourfield and guests.
Bach & a Book at Bedtime with Will Yeoman
Travel Team Panel Session with Stephen Scourfield, Will Yeoman and Mogens Johansen.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, all attendees are required to have proof of vaccination on entry.

Travel Club Experience with Stephen Scourfield (12 places): $400
Come and meet the team and other like-minded readers, tour New Norcia, join us for an evening words and music concert, and a panel session — and have time to sleep in, sit on the veranda and read a bit, too. This package includes the above 3 items as well as a Monastery guided walk, via the visitor centre and a museum & art gallery pass.
Writing Workshop Package with Will Yeoman (12 places): $450
Along with the Abbey Church performance and the Team panel session, you will also have several indepth writing sessions covering:
How Good is Grammar?! — Tools of the Trade.
From Parrot to Poet — Mimicking the Masters.
The Art of Travel Writing — A Conversation with Stephen Scourfield.

Photography Workshop Package with Mogens Johansen (12 places): $450
Along with the Abbey Church performance and the Team panel session, you will also have several indepth photography sessions covering:
Seeing Pictures — Show & Tell Screen Session.
Photowalk — Create a Picture Story from New Norcia.
Photo Session — Managing Low Light Inside St Gertrude’s Chapel.
Photowalk — Astrophotography. (or Bach & a Book at Bedtime with Will Yeoman)
Photowalk — Early Light. With an introduction to drone photography and demonstration.
Our New Norcia Weekend Away is on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, 2022.
New Norcia is 115km north of Midland, but easily accessed up Tonkin Highway. It is 50km north of Bindoon.
All accommodation will be in comfortable, modern rooms. No bedrooms have ensuites, but bathrooms are refurbished and sparklingly clean. Once New Norcia Hostel is fully booked, guests will be given rooms in the refurbished convent.
All meals are included in the price, and dietary requirements will be catered for. If arrangements are affected by unforeseen COVID-19 restrictions, we’ll offer an alternative date. If that is not suitable, guests will receive a refund.
