Here’s the lowdown...
Jeans and t-shirts, $9000 in Flight Centre travel vouchers as prizes, 45 questions in three rounds (15 questions per round), a few fun games too. It’s $25 a ticket, team tables of 10, antipasto platter from us, pay bar for you … and heaps of fun.
Yep, The BIG Travel Quiz Night is going to be a low-key sort of evening, when we can dig into our travel knowledge and experiences, and just have a bit of fun, too.
Get a team of 10 travel friends together or come as a couple and join a team table of 10.
And remember, a couple joining a table of 10 would still win $800 in Flight Centre travel vouchers if the team comes first.
Our Quiz Masters are …
- Stephen Scourfield, Australia’s most experienced Travel Editor, firing questions and guiding everyone through the evening.
- Former Foreign Editor of The West Australian, travel writer, author, editor and erudite raconteur Patrick Cornish. (You’ll just have to excuse his puns.)
The Questions
You can buy quiz questions in a box – but we’re not. For a start, that’d be too easy! But most importantly, they wouldn’t be precisely matched to you, our readers, where and how we all travel from WA — what our interests and experiences are, and what we know. We pride ourselves on being local, being experts — and so, we’re coming up with questions relevant to you.
Questions will be based on stories published in print in Saturday and Thursday Travel pages between, and including, Saturday March 7 and Saturday April 11, 2020. But they will be general travel questions, so don’t be put off by that. Travellers can just turn up, as they would at any quiz night, and use (and test) their travel knowledge.
How the evening will go
Dress code: Does it sound silly starting with this? Well, it’s not. This is a casual, fun evening and we don’t want our guests wearing ball gowns, boas and sparkly bits. (And not the women, either). Dress down, feel comfortable — come and relax and have fun.
Arrive 6.30pm, start at 7pm, finish at 9.30pm. (It’s a “school night”, after all.)
The Prizes
Our friends at Flight Centre have put up $9000 in prizes.
* The winning team table of 10 will each receive a $400 travel voucher — $4000 for the table.
* The team placed second will each receive a $200 voucher — $2000 for the table.
* The third team will each receive a $100 voucher — $1000 for the table.
Plus you can win one of 20 $100 spot prize vouchers!
How
Three rounds, each of 15 questions. There will be fun games, too, and time to meet the team and chat.
Special note
We have a “Dead Ringer” policy. If anyone in a team even looks at their mobile phone, the whole team will be deemed dead and gone.
