The inaugural Seven West Travel Club Round the World dinner was a terrific evening of fine food and wine, stories and sound. And there's another one coming up soon.

One evening, five regions, a vibrant audience of 80: that was the recipe for a very successful Seven West Travel Club Round the World Dinner held recently in the elegant surrounds of The University Club of Western Australia.

The inaugural dinner was a journey through cuisine, stories and music. Chef Costa Simatos produced five courses from around the world and, before each, travel editor Stephen Scourfield and percussionist Louise Devenish brought to life the stories and sounds of those places.

From Antarctica and the southern oceans, there was Patagonian toothfish ceviche with caramelised pineapple. From Kerala in India, charred prawn stick with Kerala coconut and curry sauce, followed by an extravagant lamb dish from Armenia, dobos cake with pistachio custard from Hungary and Ethiopian coffee praline cookies to round off the evening.

The next Round the World Dinner is on October 25, with presenting partner Flight Centre, and we can reveal an early taste of what’s on the five-course menu, which will have a Provence-inspired dish as well as a Viennese roasted bacon-wrapped pheasant breast stuffed with pork, braised red cabbage, potato croquette, grape and brandy butter sauce.
