The new year means it's time to hunt out a deal as airlines release a host of sales for 2017.
January, it seems, is sale time for the airlines. Several have released new year specials, representing the perfect excuse to book that 2017 overseas holiday.
Emirates is urging travellers to "say hello to 2017 with a holiday", offering significant savings for bookings made by January 23.
Fly return from Perth to the to the Indian Subcontinent from $999, Europe from $1299, the Middle East from $1,349, the UK from $1399, South America from $1419, North America from $1459, South Africa from $1459 and Africa from $1469 with Emirates.
The sale also extends to business class, with return fares from Perth starting at $5819 to the Indian Subcontinent, $6119 to Europe, $6859 to the Middle East, $6349 to the UK, $7569 to South America, $7609 to North America, $6889 to South Africa and $6999 to Africa.
The sale fares are available for travel between February 1 and November 30, 2017.
Cathay Pacific has started the year with not one but two sales: its Chinese New Year sale and Europe and North America sale.
The Chinese New Year sale is available for travel to June 25, for bookings in economy, premium economy and business class made by January 29. Discounted flights includes economy return from Perth to Shanghai from $643.
The Europe and North America sale covers travel from February 16 to November 30 with some blackout dates. Fly return Perth to Vancouver from $1445 for bookings made before February 28.
Qantas has an Escape to Europe Sale valid for bookings to January 23. Fly economy return Perth to London (Heathrow) for $1444, Dublin for $1367 and Milan for $1294.
Qatar Airways’ Travel Festival runs until January 16.
It includes specials on business and economy fares, special companion fares and a kids-fly-free offer.
Qatar Airways this year has added new services to Pisa, Helsinki and Dublin, with the sale covering many destinations throughout the Middle East, Europe, the US and Africa. It covers the travel period from January 15 to December 15.
Visa card holders enjoy additional discounts of up to 15 per cent on flight bookings and 10 per cent off AccorHotels when booking accommodation via the airline’s website.
Qatar Airways is
also encouraging passengers to plan a stopover in Doha, with a new transit visa
scheme offering visitors a free transit visa for up to 96 hours on their way to
or from their final destination.
Until January 13, Air New Zealand is offering specials from Perth including one-way flights to Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington from $429.
For bookings until January 30, it is offering Perth to Los Angeles, San Francisco or Houston return for $1299 or to Vancouver return for $1649.
There are also specials to South America and the Cook Islands.
Etihad Airways has some early-bird offers for Europe and beyond, valid for bookings made by the end of the month for travel between October 1 and November 30. Fly Perth to Dublin return from $1154 and Perth to Milan return for $1206.
Thai Airways has specials for Thailand, India, Asia and Europe for bookings by February 28 and travel until October 31.
