Arrivals & Departures Hike beyond the ordinary trails
Australian adventure travel specialist World Expeditions has teamed up with the owners of a working sheep station in New Zealand to create the five-day Moonlight Valley and Queenstown Backcountry Hike.
It’s an opportunity to hike beyond the Ben Lomond Trail behind Queenstown, offering views of the Remarkables and other surrounding peaks and Shotover River.
The journey includes a heli-hike to the top of Mt Gilbert, a jet-boat transfer on the river, three nights accommodation in Moonlight Lodge and one night of wilderness camping.
Hikes will start in Queenstown on March 24 and April 7 and participants will need a moderate level of fitness. It costs $2990 per person.
World Expeditions’ other New Zealand walks include the seven-day Fiordland, Hollyford and Stewart Island Trail; Marlborough Sounds and Abel Tasman trek; and the six-day Best of Southern Alps Trek.
