When it comes to travelling in WA, Natalie Gruzlewski turns to the Margaret River region, for its blend of nature, adventure and indulgence.
And the presenter of the hugely successful series Farmer Wants a Wife reckons it has some of the best beaches in the world.
Nat says: “Some of those beaches are perfect for stand-up paddleboarding, and the azure waters of Geographe Bay are ideal for kayaking.” Then there’s the chance of marine wildlife encounters with whales and dolphins.
On the land, Nat likes to get her walking boots on.
“I love hiking,” she says, “and the region has some of the most beautiful walking tracks I’ve experienced, like Cape Naturaliste to Sugarloaf Rock, the Meelup Brook Trail, and the spectacular Cape to Cape Track.”
She says the limestone caves beneath Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge are breathtaking.
“Hands down, the region is home to some of the world’s best wine and produce.”
Nat is rock solid in her support of the Margaret River region and adds: “I love the farmgate experiences, like olive oil tasting at Olio Bello and Wulura Farms. Margaret River Providore is exceptional, as are the farmers’ markets. The local chocolatiers and cheesemakers are world class.”
It’s hard to pick favourites, Nat says, but when it comes to cellar door experiences: “Vasse Felix and Leeuwin Estate are two I love.
“The opportunity to taste some of the reserves at the cellar door is such a treat, as are some of the dining experiences. And the surrounds of these wineries are almost fairytale like.”
