With the State Government set to discount landing fees for daytrippers visiting the island in January, there are discounts for both adults and children.
During the Rotto from Day to Dusk promotion, children will get free admission and adults half-price admission when visiting the island from midday.
"There are now more ferry seats and travel times available to Rottnest than ever before," said Tourism Minister Paul Papalia.
"With about 7 per cent of visitors travelling after midday in summer, there are always seats available on the afternoon ferries travelling to Rottnest.
"We want to use this as an opportunity to encourage visitors to leave later and stay longer into the evening."
To further encourage people to stay later, there will be picnic tables and live music in the Settlement Mall on Saturday nights.
Many visitors to Rottnest pay the admission fee ($18 for adults and $6.50 for kids for day visitors) as part of of their ferry fare, but the discount will apply to daytrippers arriving by ferry as well as those aboard a private or chartered boat.
The launch of a new ferry service between Fremantle and Rottnest by Sealink in November has helped to shake up the options available to holidaymakers with expanded timetables and discounts.
For example, Rottnest Express now offers free ferry fares to WA children aged four to 12 who join its Quokka Club. Combined with the Rotto from Day to Dusk promotion, this means kids could travel to the island for free in January when travelling after midday.
Mr Papalia said initiatives by ferry providers, Rottnest business and the State Government had contributed to a 29 per cent rise in ferry travel to the island in November compared to the same period last year.
"We're committed to continually improving accessibility, affordability and the quality of what is on offer on Rottnest Island."
